Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – “The Big Bang Theory” has never won an Emmy award but fans are speculating that the curse might be broken this year due to the high-rating episode of Sheldon and Amy having sexual intercourse for the first time.

Season 9 had a lot of things happening such as it beginning with Leonard and Penny getting married and moving in together while Amy and Sheldon got back together after their disappointing break-up in “The Big Bang Theory” Season 8 finale. Bernadette and Howard are also going to be parents for the first time while Raj has found himself dating two women.

“The Big Bang Theory” has been nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series but has never won despite being the number one comedy in the United States for the past five years. It has been nominated for times from 2011 to 2014 but always lost to another comedy series entitled “Modern Family.” Last year, the CBS show was snubbed by “Veep,” which is a first-time Emmy winner.

“The Big Bang Theory” might have higher chances of winning this year without “Louie” and “Parks and Recreation” being contenders of the comedy show. The show starring Kaley Cuoco , Johnny Galecki , and Jim Parsons was dropped from the Best Comedy Series race last year.

For the Emmy Awards this year, “The Big Bang Theory” has submitted two episodes for consideration entitled “The Fermentation Bifurcation” and “The Opening Night Excitation.” The first episode was by assistant director Nikki Lorre , the daughter of the co-creator of the show Chuck Lorre . The second episode was directed by the main director Mark Cendrowski .

“The Opening Night Excitation” is actually the show’s highest rated on IMDb and is the only one to rank in the top thirty best episodes from the “The Big Bang Theory” Seasons 8 and 9. The episode is about Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler finally having intercourse after they got back together. Sheldon gifted his virginity to Amy for her birthday.
