Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – The movie “Fast & Furious 8” just added a new cast and it is “Mad Max: Fury” star Charlize Theron, who will reportedly play the role of a villain.

According to reports, Theron has been confirmed as the latest baddie whom the stars of the franchise will be facing. She will be working alongside Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson.

The Facebook page of the long-running franchise wrote on their announcement on Thursday the following alongside a photo of Theron: "Our crew will face its greatest adversary ever in our next film as we welcome Charlize Theron to the Fast family."

The movie has no official name yet but fans are calling it “Fast & Furious 8.” It is being directed by F. Gary Gray and the set release date is on April 14, 2017. The upcoming film marks the first ever full step without Paul Walker, who died in a car accident halfway through shooting “Furious 7.” Gray shared in a statement, "I could not have asked for better partners than Vin Diesel, Neal H. Moritz, & the Universal Studios Entertainment family. Together we are excited to bring you the next chapter in the Fast & Furious saga. ‪# ‎FastFamily ."

Regarding Walker’s departure, Rodriguez teased last year that they need a good reason to move on after the death of the actor. She added, "But for us as a cast, I think we need a reason and it needs to have heart, so hopefully we'll find it, you know? And somebody who's passionate about directing it—I think that's the most important thing is finding a good director."

In “Furious 7,” the villain was Jason Statham . He played the role of Deckard Shaw, who seemed to have been locked away inside an inescapable prison at the end of the film. Statham is said to still return for the next installment of the franchise so it is unclear if he will be teaming up with Theron or if he is a separate villain that the stars will battle.

Diesel has also confirmed last February that the eighth installment won’t be the last as there will also be a Fast 9 and 10 hitting the theatres by April 19, 2019 and April 2, 2021.

There are no other details available yet regarding Theron’s character.
