Cannes, Paris, France (4E) – Actor George Clooney believes that Donald Trump will not be the president this coming November general elections.

While the 55-year-old was at the Cannes Film Festival to promote his new film “Money Monster,” he took the liberty to criticize Trump. He said that there is not going to be a “president Donald Trump. It’s not going to happen because fear is not going to be something that drives” the United States.

Clooney thinks that Trump is the product of the collision of news and entertainment. He compared it to his movie “Money Monster,” which is based on Jodie Foster’s hostage thriller. In the movie, it stars Jim Cramer, played by Clooney, who is a financial guru and was taken as a hostage live on the air. The hostage taker was a distraught investor played by Jack O’Connell. The movie also stars Julia Roberts, the program’s producer.

Clooney also said that Trump is the result of the fact that news programs who interviewed the real estate mogul did not follow up and ask tough questions. He added that people gets to hear more and more about Trump and the news outlets’ ratings go up because “they can show an empty podium saying 'Donald Trump is about to speak,' as opposed to taking those 30 seconds and saying, ‘Well, let's talk about refugees, which is the biggest crisis going on in the world right now.’”

The actor also said during the press conference that cable news networks allowed their output to slide further into infotainment helping Trump become the GOP Party’s candidate for the presidency.

Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney, a human rights lawyer, hosted a pair of events last month in Los Angeles and San Francisco to raise millions for Clinton.

Trump is yet to comment on Clooney’s statements against him.
