I Am Cait wins Outstanding Reality Program award at GLAAD Media Awards

Beverly Hills, CA, United States (4E) – “I Am Cait” won the Outstanding Reality Program award at the 2016 GLAAD Media Awards, held Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The show will be televised Monday,on Logo. According to reports, the E! docu series tied with Jazz Jennings’ TLC show “I Am Jazz.” The 66-year-old reality star said that she was honored with the award during her acceptance speech.
In the first season of “I Am Cait ,” it has been a buzz as the show documented the transition of Jenner , who debuted her new look last year after covering Vanity Fair. She also made fans see the world as a transgender woman as well as her processes of legally changing her name. The first season of the series also showed her accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPYs .
The show is now on its second season and it centers of Jenner and her friends, who are trans activists, Candis Cayne , Chandi Moore, and Jenny Boylan . The group of friends have started a cross-country road trip and they make stops in order to raise awareness about the issues that the LGBT community are facing.
The other nominees under the reality television category are Discovery Life’s “New Girls on the Block,” Oxygen’s “The Prancing Elites Project” and Fuse’s “Transcendent.” GLAAD CEO and president Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement that they wanted to make the awards show more diverse and driven towards accepting LGBT . She said in her statement during the release of the nominees: “This year's nominees have raised the bar for creating thoughtful and diverse LGBT images and storylines, deepening audiences' understanding of LGBT people and accelerating acceptance across the world.”
The nominations were revealed this January and Jenner took to Twitter to share the news. She wrote back then: "We are proud to be nominated for a @GLAAD Media Award! # glaadawards ."
