Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Days after it was reported that “Saturday Night Live” has not picked up the contract of Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam for the upcoming season 42, Pharoah broke his silence on the sudden and surprising decision.

Pharoah took to Instagram to post a photo of him with Killam and “Saturday Night Live” cast member Vanessa Bayer. He wrote alongside the snap, “My fam for life.” It might mean that Pharoah is acknowledging the reports that he will no longer be seen in “Saturday Night Live” Season 42. Both him and Killam still have one year left in their contract as both have been signed to be part of the show for seven years. The two have only been part of the show for the past six seasons.

In an interview with Killam recently, he shared, “I don't know the other side of it. You sign for seven years, so I had one more year. I sort of had it in my head I would make this upcoming year my last year, but then heard they weren't going to pick up my contract. I was never given a reason why, really.”

It remains unclear what the reason behind Pharoah not being signed back for “Saturday Night Live” Season 42 as Killam felt his new movie that he is producing might have affected their decision. He said that the movie, which stars Arnold Shwarzenegger and is entitled “Why We’re Killing Gunther ,” might overlap with the production of the TV show and the post-production of the flick.

Pharoah , on the other hand, also has three upcoming projects on IMDb.

“Saturday Night Live” Season 42 is set to premiere later this year.
