Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato have dated briefly in the past during their Disney Channel days and the DNCE frontman shared recently in an interview with E! that he treats the former fiancée of Wilmer Valderrama as family.
Jonas shared, “She’s family. We’ve known Demi [ Lovato ] for so many years. We’ve performed with her, toured with her. She’s just incredible. It’s not always the case. Sometimes you have to know when to fold the cards. I don’t think of her as an ex. We’re really good friends. We’ve gone through so much together and we’re really close now.”
The two met back in 2008 when they filmed the Disney Channel original movie “Camp Rock.” His brothers, Kevin and Nick, were also there but Lovato and Demi had more scenes to shoot together and were basically the love team in the movie. They then began dating in 2010 while in the middle of filming “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.”
The two only dated for a few months and Lovato had a breakdown backstage while touring with the Jonas brothers back in 2011. She punched backup dancer Alex Welch in the face. Rumors claim that the fight was over Jonas. However, Lovato shared, “I wouldn’t credit my meltdown to a guy. There was so much other stuff in my life.” She has entered a treatment program after and revealed that she suffered from substance abuse and mental health problems.
Lovato is currently on tour with Jonas’ brother, Nick. Many fans have been shipping Lovato and Jonas to get back together since her split from Valderrama , her boyfriend for six years.
