New York City, NY, United States (4E) – Kelly Ripa made a joke about contract negotiation while on “Live! With Kelly and Michael” and Michael Strahan does not think it is funny amid the reports of his exit.

According to reports, Ripa made the joke during an animal segment on the show’s Thursday episode. Ripa and Strahan had wildlife expert Peter Gros as the guest. Gros is from the Animal Planet show “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom” and he brought some unusual friends with him including a screaming and hairy armadillo.

The animal shrieked throughout the show and Gros told Strahan and Ripa that the reason he is screaming is because he is small. Gros added, "He has no defense, no teeth. When a predator comes along, he squares it away with his scream."

Strahan then chimed in saying, "He's about to scare me away, I tell you that." Ripa then made the joke noting, "I want to take him into contract negotiations with me." Ripa went on to laugh and also drew some laughter from the crowd but Strahan did not seem amused with the joke.

The joke might be an insinuation about Strahan’s unprecedented exit from the show. Last week, Strahan announced that he will be leaving “Live! With Kelly and Michael” after four years of being part of the show in order to move to “Good Morning America” full-time.

Initially, Strahan was supposed to be with the show until fall and move to “Good Morning America” by September but it was announced earlier this week that he will be departing the show as early as May.

After Strahan’s announcement, Ripa stayed away from “Live!” for four weekdays. She returned to the show only on Tuesday and she addressed the matter saying that she needed time to process the exit of her co-host and that she is sorry for not showing up for work adding that the staff of the show is her second family. Ripa has been with the show for 15 years now.
