Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – It was confirmed that the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services is extendingits investigation into Brad Pitt.

Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced last month that they are divorcing after being together for many years and being married for only two years. After that, reports have surfaced saying that Pitt was being investigated over an incident on the plane while the Jolie-Pitt family were on their way back to Los Angeles.

Pitt is accused of physically and verbally assaulting their oldest son, Maddox. The incident allegedly took place on September 15 and that the extension of the investigation is due to the information about new key accusation.

The extension comes after the Federal Bureau of Investigation visited Jolie at her Malibu residence last week, which was during the same time that Pitt and Maddox have seen each other for the first time since the divorce was announced. Accordingly, the FBI agents interviewed the potential witnesses including some of the Jolie-Pitt kids, and the flight crew.

Jolie was interviewed for around two hours because they wanted a breakdown of what happened from when the plane took off until it landed. According to a source, neither side wants the matter to go to court because the results of the investigation will then be made public. If that happens, it will taint the family in a negative way.

If and when the investigation will be concluded, the LA County Department of Children and Family Services will be writing a report saying that there was a probable cause of child abuse. The report will be passed to the U.S. District Attorney and will decide if the case will be prosecuted.

The outcome of the investigation by the FBI and the LA County Department of Children and Family Services will not affect the divorce proceedings of Jolie and Pitt as well as the custody agreement of the two. As of now, Maddox, Pax , Zahara , Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne are with their mother. Pitt is only allowed to visit and see them with the presence of a therapist.
