Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Actress Lena Dunham released an apology for New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr . after she claimed he is a narcissist in her latest entry for the Lenny Letter.

Dunham was discussing with comedienne Amy Schumer in the Friday edition of the Lenny Letter and she said that during this year’s Met Gala, Dunham said that she was seated near Beckham but the NFL player looked at his cell phone instead of her. She then assumed that Dunham found her sexually unappealing.

Dunham and Schumer went on to say that they despised attending the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala in New York. Dunham, who was wearing a tuxedo during the 2016 MET Gala, continued to say, “The vibe was very much like, ‘Do I want to f**k it? Is it wearing a… yep, it’s wearing a tuxedo. I’m going to go back to my cell phone.’ It was like we were forced to be together, and he literally was scrolling Instagram rather than have to look at a woman in a bow tie. I was like, ‘This should be called the Metropolitan Museum of Getting Rejected by Athletes.’”

After publishing the article on her website, she apologized saying that criticizing Beckham stemmed from her own insecurities. She took to Instagram on Saturday to say that despite her moments of bravado, she struggles at industry events as she believes she does not represent a certain standard of beauty. She went on to say that it was especially intense at this year’s MET Gala because she was seated near a handsome athlete.

She also took to Twitter to say: “My story about him was clearly (to me) about my own insecurities as an average-bodied woman at a table of supermodels & athletes.”

Beckham has not yet commented on the matter.
