Lily Collins reveals how her role in To the Bone hits close to home, talks eating disorder

Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – Lily Collins revealed in a recent interview that she battled an eating disorder during her teenage years and the new movie she is working on hits close to home because the character is about a woman seeking treatment for anorexia.
She further revealed about her situation in the past during an interview with IMDb. Collins is the lead star in the drama of Marti Noxon called “To the Bone.” The film just debuted at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. The 27-year-old noted of the character she played in the movie, "This was definitely a more dramatic role for me. I suffered with eating disorders when I was a teenager as well."
Collins wrote a book last year and the chapter regarding her eating disorder was written by her a week before she got the script from Noxon . She said that it felt like the universe was putting things in her sphere to help her face the fear she used to have in the past. Collins continued to say that the film and the book were ways for her to explain the eating disorder to someone who went through it and to open up a topic that is being considered as taboo.
For the movie “To the Bone,” Collins said that she shed some weight in order to appear anorexic in the movie but it was safe because she was guided by a nutritionist. She also said that doing the movie made her visit her pat emotionally but it was the safest and healthiest way and that although the character was personal, it was freeing.
After the interview, Collins, who is the daughter of singer Phil Collins and Jill Tavelman , received overwhelming support from her fan. The actress then posted a photo of her on Instagram as she thanked those who supported her. She said that it is a huge moment for her to own her past, be open, and have no shame and regrets about her experiences.
