Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – Weeks after he has officially left the show formerly entitled “Live! With Kelly and Michael,” Michael Strahan said in a recent statement that he does not miss the ABC show.
The drama between Strahan and Ripa has been witnessed by the audiences of the morning show after the 44-year-old former NFL star blindsided everyone including his co-host when he announced that he was moving to “Good Morning America.” He made the surprising statement when Ripa was not on the show as she was on leave.
This then resulted to Ripa not being on the show for a few days and when she came back, she talked about respect in the workplace. Initially, Strahan was to leave “Live!” by October but was forced to move out completely by May as ABC said he has to be incorporated slowly into “Good Morning America.” Ripa has since then had guests as her co-hosts and no one has taken the spot permanently.
Strahan has been a part-time contributor for “Good Morning America” since 2014 but has only appeared thrice on the morning show since his departure from “Live!”
In an upcoming episode of the Netflix show “Chelsea,” Strahan said of being on “Live!” to host Chelsea Handler, “I really haven't missed it. But I loved it. Don't get me wrong. I loved it. When you get a break, sometimes you kind of go, 'Wow, I kind of needed it.' I needed a break.”
Strahan also said that he has not gotten the chance to watch “Live!” after his departure adding that he has been working so hard for the last seven or eight years since he retired from football that is why exiting the show has been a relief. He is able to spend quality time with his children since his exit.
Strahan also talked about his clothing line and his new hosting gig for the game show “The $100,000 Pyramid.”
This is not the first time that Strahan talked about “Live!” A week after leaving the show, Strahan’s DuJour magazine interview was released and he said that he loved being on the show as it was great and that the people he worked with are also great. He added, “I’m very fortunate to have been a part of it.”
