New York City, NY, United States (4E) – Sarah Jessica Parker spoke out about her Met Gala look after a fashion blogger criticized her appearance at the annual fashion event.
The former “Sex and the City” star saw the post that was tagged to her on Instagram and she took time to read it and write back. In the post of the fashion blogger, she was called out along with Madonna and Diane Von Furstenberg for their outfit choices for the event. The fashion blogger said that they did not follow the theme of the night “Manus X Machina : Fashion In The Age Of Technology.”
The Instagram account posted a three-way split photo of the three women posing on the red carpet. The caption of the post reads: "The 2016 Met Gala Theme was ' Manus X Machina ; Fashion in the age of technology' and this trio didnt get the memo @sarahjessicaparker @dvf @madonna # fashionforward # Metgala # fashionblogger # ivymarshall ."
Parker then replied saying that she got the memo and that she always welcomes thoughts but she defender her outfit saying that she is a “stickler for the theme and pay close attention to what it means. Every year with great consideration, research and conviction.”
The actress continued: "The understanding of man and machine, how they intersect, when and why is what we considered. Perhaps you weren't aware of the technology used in the details and embellishments of the design. Or perhaps you simply didn't like what I wore which is completely fine but you can't accuse me of not paying close attention and adhering to the theme. With respect and warmest regards, sj ."
The look of Parker overall seemed to have been inspired by the hit Broadway musical called “Hamilton.” She topped off her look with a pair of blue heels for a pop of color.
While being interviewed on the red carpet, Parker did say that this year’s theme for the Met Gala was much more difficult as compared to the past themes.
