Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Woody Harrelson was rumored last month regarding having a role in the upcoming “Star Wars” lick that will center on the younger Han Solo and the actor recently confirmed the news and provided details regarding his character.
Lucasfilm first confirmed Harrelson being part of the “Star Wars” second standalone flick. Harrelson then went on a Facebook Live interview with Mashable and said that his character is multidimensional because he is a “mentor to Han, but I'm also a bit of a criminal. I don't think I should say much more than that because the Force is not allowing me.”
In a statement by the directors of the new “Star Wars” movie, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, they said that they could not be more excited to work with Harrelson , whom they described as an artist with as much depth and range as the “Hunger Games” actor. Lord and Miller added in their joint statement, "His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong."
In the yet-to-be titled Han Solo standalone flick, Harrelson will be acting alongside Alden Ehrenreich . The 27-year-old actor was tapped to play the role of the young Han Solo. Donald Glover will also be part of the movie as Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke. The “Game of Thrones” actress’ role has not been revealed yet.
The Han Solo prequel movie is the second standalone film in the Star Wars franchise. The first is the successful 2016 flick, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The Han Solo movie is slated to hit theaters by 2018.
