Terrebone, Quebec, Canada (4E) – The brother of Celine Dion has died due to cancer just two days after her husband, Rene Angelil , died from the same illness.

According to reports, Celine’s brother, Daniel Dion, also died of cancer. Angelil died days before after his long battle from his throat cancer.

The Canadian pop singer’s representative confirmed the news over the weekend. Daniel also suffered from cancer of the throat, tongue, and brain. He has been battling the disease for a few years before his death. Daniel was one of the 13 older siblings of Celine and is the eighth child of their parents, Therese Dion, 88, and Adhemar Dion, who died back in 2003 at the age of 80.

As per reports, Daniel will be honored at a religious funeral at St. Simon-et-Jude in Charlemagne Quebec. This was where the Dion family was raised. The statement added, “His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion , a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec . For those wishing to send flowers, a donation to that organization would be very much appreciated.”

The sister of Daniel and Celine, Claudette Dion, also released a statement recently saying that their family, including their mother, were able to be by his bedside before his death on Saturday. Claudette was quoted saying, “He was ready and he no longer suffers. It was serene.”

Daniel is survived by his daughters Valerie and Marie-Michelle as well as his grandchildren Matis and Laurianne .
