Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have reached a settlement for their divorce, which is said to be $7 million.
The 52-year-old actor and 30-year-old actress have been embroiled in a legal matter since early this year and as details have emerged, their divorce has become one of the most talk about celebrity separations. As per a joint statement by the two, they said, "Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity."
The settlement comes a day before a scheduled hearing on the domestic abuse case was scheduled to begin on Wednesday. The domestic violence restraining order against Depp was also reportedly dismissed. Heard can no longer refile the restraining order petition as it was dismissed with prejudice.
The attorneys for Heard, Samantha Spector and Joseph Koenig, said in a statement that they are pleased about the matter being settled. They pointed out that the case was challenging and demanding but praised Heard for showing “great grace and strength under fire.”
The divorce was filed last May by heard and cited irreconcilable differences. Following that, she has released photos with People magazine showing her bruised face. Depp and his legal team have denied the allegations of Heard and the former wife and daughter of the actor came to his defense.
Since the split, the two have been busy with their respective careers. Depp is busy touring with his band The Hollywood Vampires while Heard is filming for her new film “The Justice League.”
The former couple got married in February 2015. They met on the set of the film “The Rum Diary” in 2009.
