Amber Heard’s former girlfriend defends actress over domestic abuse reports from 2009

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – The former photographer girlfriend of Amber Heard, Tasya van Ree , has spoken out about the reports that the actress was arrested in 2009 for misdemeanor domestic violence.
Earlier this week, it was reported that van Ree and Heard got into an argument while at an airport in Seattle and the actress got physical with her then-girlfriend. This comes after Heard filed for a restraining order from estranged husband Johnny Depp, whom she also alleges of domestic violence.
The 30-year-old’s former girlfriend then decided to break her silence on the matter and released a statement. Van Ree said, “In 2009, Amber was wrongfully accused for an incident that was misinterpreted and over-sensationalized by two individuals in a powerful position. I recount hints of misogynistic attitudes toward us which later appeared to be homophobic when they found out we were domestic partners and not just ‘friends.' Charges were quickly dropped and she was released moments later.”
She continued to say that it is disheartening that Heard’s integrity and claims over the domestic abuse from Depp are being questioned. Van Ree noted that Heard is brilliant, honest, and a beautiful woman noting that she has the utmost respect for the actress. Heard and van Ree have been together for five years and split just two years ago. Van Ree pointed out that despite the split, they remain to be close to this day.
The Los Angeles police are currently investigating the allegations made by Heard.
Heard has since then released photos of herself with a bruised face and cut lip. The latest domestic dispute was said to be on May 21 and police officials responded to the call in the home of Heard and Depp. Heard did not file a criminal report during that time but she said in her court filings that Depp threw an iPhone at her, which explains the bruise just below her eye at the time of the request for a restraining order.
Heard also alleges that Depp grabbed her by the hair and shoved her to the floor during her 30th birthday.
Heard and Depp have been married for 15 months.
