Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Reports about Amy Schumer being casted as part of the live-action “Barbie” flick made critics slam the actress for not being thin enough to land a role in the movie and the comedienne fought back via an Instagram post.
Schumer was rumored to play the role of Barbie in the live-action flick and people were not happy about it. She then posted a photo of her wearing a one-piece swimsuit while at the beach on Instagram along with a lengthy message to her haters. She started her message with, “Is it fat shaming if you know you’re not fat and have zero shame in your game? I don’t think so. I am strong and proud of how I live my life and say what I mean and fight for what I believe in and I have a blast doing it with the people I love.”
The 35-year-old continued to say that whenever she looks into the mirror, she knows who she is. She is a great friend, sister, daughter, and a girlfriend as well as a “badass comic.”
Schumer continued to thank those who supports her and noted that her deepest sympathy goes to the trolls who are in more pain than people will ever understand. She added that the response she got when reports have surfaced that she will play Barbie in the live-action flick is the kind of response that lets people know something is wrong with the culture and the society.
She added, “Anyone who has ever been bullied or felt bad about yourself I am out there fighting for you, for us. And I want you to fight for yourself too! We need to laugh at the haters and sympathize with them. They can scream as loud as they want. We can’t hear them because we are getting shit done. I am proud to lead by example. ‘I say if I’m beautiful, I say if I’m strong. You will not determine my story. I will’ #thegirlwiththelowerbacktattoo.”
She also touched on the subject of being nominated for two Grammys for next year. She was nominated for best spoken word album and best comedy album.
