Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – Comedienne Amy Schumer set the record straight that “Inside Amy Schumer” is not canceled and has commented on Kurt Metzeger’s rape rants.
Schumer first sparked cancellation rumors regarding her Comedy Central series after she said that she did not fire Metzeger due to his comments over sexual assault. She added, “He isn't a writer for my show because we aren't making the show anymore. There are no writers for it.”
Many understood it as Schumer saying that “Inside Amy Schumer” is done for good but she followed it up saying that Comedy Central provided a wonderful home for her and her show but she is doing stand-up and is focusing on writing more so it is unclear when Season 5 will come.
Comedy Central did renew “Inside Amy Schumer” for a fifth season after the show ended its fourth season earlier in the summer of 2016. Schumer will be touring in Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and North American until December this year.
As for Metzeger’s statements, Schumer did not just comment on the matter but also praised the writer for “Inside Amy Schumer.” She said that Metzeger has such a different perspective, which makes him an asset to the show.
However, Schumer said that Metzeger’s views on rape is not a representative of her at all. She shared, "I've asked him, 'Can you just stop?' Because it comes back to me. Because he writes for the show, it's a bigger story, because of our connection.”
Schumer then urged people to focus their time and energy understanding rape rather than trolling her and getting mad at Metzeger . She pointed out that everyone should focus on getting the problem done because she was sexually assaulted and she encourages women to come out.
All these and more were said by Schumer on her interview with Charlie Rose. The full interview will be out this August 19 on PBS.
