Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Both Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone have been doing well in their careers for this year as the movies they have starred in received a lot of attention and one proof of that is the actress winning the Academy Award as Best Actress.
Although the two are exes, they seemed to still support each other as Garfield was spotted tearing up and giving his ex a standing ovation when she won the award. This was not the first time this awards season that the two were spotted being friendly despite ending their romantic relationship. The two were seen palling around at the BAFTAs. Garfield also gave Stone a standing ovation when she won the Golden Globe for best actress.
A fan who took notice of Garfield feeling proud for his ex took to Twitter to post a photo of the actor looking teary-eyed and listening intently during the acceptance speech of the actress. The fan wrote alongside the snap, “We all need someone to look at us the way andrew garfield looks at emma stone … ohh they need to get back together.” It is unclear if the two have started to communicate again since their split and if they plan to get back together.
Aside from that, Garfield also gave the brother of Stone, Spencer, a hug. Stone also went over to Garfield at one point and in the photo, she was smiling widely at the actor.
In the past, Garfield talked about being a fan of Stone’s work. He said in an interview in the past, "I'm constantly inspired by her work. I'm constantly inspired by how she handles and holds herself. So for me, I've—it's been bliss to be able to watch her success and watch her bloom into the actress that she is. And it's also been wonderful to have that kind of support for each other. It's nothing but a beautiful thing.”
Stone and Garfield first met on the set of “The Amazing Spider-Man.” They dated for four years before ending things in 2015. Sources claimed schedule was a big reason for the split.
