Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Ariel Winter was at this year’s Emmy Awards and she was asked at the red carpet why she decided to delay her college for a year.

The 18-year-old “Modern Family” actress will not be starting a new school year at the University of California Los Angeles this coming fall and she shared the reason behind forcing herself not to go to school for a year. She noted, "The problem was that I had made my schedule, when I went to production we couldn't make it work this year because of heavy story lines."

Despite the delay, Winter said that she is not letting this setback stop her from reaching her dream, which is becoming an attorney. She noted that she is very excited to go to school by next year. She said that it has always been a dream of hers to become a lawyer and she believes that social justice fits her well. She added in another interview earlier this year, "I want to continue acting and also go to law school. I think the more knowledge you have, can only better your life."

Winter has been very open in the past about not letting her acting career keep her from finishing her studies and getting a degree.

Aside from talking about her studies, the actress talked about who she is wearing for this year’s Emmy’s. the form-fitting sheer dress with silver beading is the same dress that reality star Kylie Jenner was spotted wearing a few days ago.

Winter said of the dress that she loves it and thought that she will definitely have to wear it. She noted that she is a career girl and she has to pick something that will work for her body.

She continued to reveal that she wants to get the message across that ever body is beautiful. She noted that when she started in the showbiz industry, what was beautiful was stick thin and tall women. She said that these women are absolutely beautiful but that is not everybody.
