Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – “Today” host Billy Bush was suspended by NBC over his conversation with GOP nominee Donald Trump regarding women in an explosive leaked tape.
The NBC executive-in-charge Noah Oppenheim said in a memo to the staff members of “Today” that they have been deeply troubled with the revelations in the past two days. He added, “Let me be clear — there is simply no excuse for Billy’s language and behavior on that tape. NBC has decided to suspend Billy, pending further review of this matter.” It remains unknown until when the suspension will be enforced.
In the video, which was reportedly made back in 2005, Bush was heard laughing and provoked the GOP nominee as they talked about women in a vulgar and misogynistic way.
The suspension came as a surprise as executives said they did not plan to make any move regarding disciplining Bush and expected that he will explain himself over the controversy on the Monday episode of “Today.” The suspension comes after people took to social media to express that they are angry at Bush. Bush released a message on Friday saying that he was embarrassed and ashamed noting that it happened when he was younger and less mature that is why he acted foolishly.
Bush was reportedly the host of “Access Hollywood” during the recording of the video. He was talking with Trump as he was about to leave a bus in order to visit a soap opera set. Bush laughed at the comments of Trump regarding the physique of Arianne Zucker , an actress for “Days of Our Lives.”
Zucker also released a statement about the matter. She said that how people treat one another whether behind closed doors or face to face should be done with dignity, kindness, and respect.
The exact words of Bush in the video are: " Sheesh , your girl's hot as s—, in the purple. Those legs, all I can see is the legs." Trump, on the other hand, replied, "When you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything. … Grab them by the p—y. You can do anything."
The tape also made considerable amount of damage to the campaign of Trump.
