Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Blake Shelton recently sat down with CMT’s Katie Cook and he talked about how his divorce affected him in the past and that his current girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, saved his life.
Shelton and Stefani have officially stepped out as a couple in November last year months after both have announced their divorce from their former partners. Shelton was married to Miranda Lambert while Stefani was married to Gavin Rossdale .
The country crooner said that getting together with Stefani was not something that anybody saw coming aside from God as he thought that it did not look like it would make sense. He added, “All I can tell you is that it does. It just makes the most perfect sense for us and where we're at in our lives. I tell people all the time, 'Gwen saved my life last year.’ She did.”
The two also made a hit duet entitled “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” The couple performed it on the music reality show they are both part of, which is “The Voice” and Cook talked about how the video has been so viral as it has millions of views. He shared, "There's just been such media craze around us being together, I think that's why there's been a lot of views."
Shelton also talked about Stefani when she first came to the show, which was in Season 7 of “The Voice.” He said that during that time, he was not given the chance to know her better as she was just coming to the show and they would high-five and ask each other how they are.
He continued to say that even when she came in for her second season, he still did not know Stefani that well. However, all of a sudden they just clicked and their relationship happened because of the same things they were going through.
