Quebec, Ottawa, Canada (4E) – Celine Dion is reportedly too devastated about the death of her husband, Rene Angelil , that is why she was not able to attend her brother Daniel’s funeral.

Angelil died of throat cancer and Dion’s brother Daniel also died from the same illness days after her husband did. According to reports, the 47-year-old opted out from attending the January 25 funeral of Daniel as she has been exhausted and devastated form the week-long memorials, services, and the funeral for her late husband.

She did, however, had the opportunity to mourn her brother during a memorial service last January 23, just a day after Angelil’s funeral. The service was reporteldy held at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny , Canada. Dion and her children decided to go to that and avoid the public funeral that was held at St-Simon-et-Jude parish in Charlemagne, Quebec.

Daniel was one of the 13 brothers and sisters of Dion. However, their gap is said to be 12 years as she is the youngest of the siblings. Daniel died on January 16 at the age of 59.

Accordingly, despite the age gap, Dion is quite close to Daniel as she is with all her siblings.

The official statement of Daniel’s passing reads: “His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion , a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec . For those wishing to send flowers, a donation to that organization would be very much appreciated. Battling cancer for a few years, it's in the uttermost discretion and surrounded by his family that Daniel Dion, 59, died today, January 16. He was the eighth child of Thérèse and Adhémar Dion, brother of Céline.”
