New York City, NY, United States (4E) – Cole Sprouse and his brother Dylan have both starred on the Disney Channel shows “The Suite Life” and “The Suite Life on Deck” and now the actor talked about how he felt like when he was working with the network.
“The Suite Life on Dek” ended five years ago and now Sprouse is preparing for his role as Jughead Jones in the Archie Comics adaptation of The CW entitled “Riverdale.” Sprouse was interviewed during the Upfronts Party on Monday evening and he said that taking a break from acting was great for him.
Sprouse shared regarding his Disney Channel days, "There was a feeling of machination; I felt like an automaton. I needed to take a break and step outside myself … I needed a dose of reality, and I needed to see myself in a more objective point of view. And now I think I can enjoy [acting], which is a really fundamental part about being an actor."
The now-23-year-old has taken a break only during the past five years as he and his twin brother shared the role of Patrick Kelly on “Grace Under Fire.” They then moved on to play the role of Ross Geller’s son Ben on “Friends” then landed the role for the Disney Chanel series.
He pointed out during the interview that he is not saying they did not enjoy during that time but it was work for them. He shared that the money they got from acting got him to college but now he is glad to be acting on his own accord.
Sprouse attended New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study with his brother. They graduated last May 2015 with honors.
“Riverdale” is the first ever series that Sprouse will be acting without his twin. Sprouse did say, however, that his twin will entertain the idea in case he will be asked to make an appearance on the show.
