Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Disney is said to be working on a live action version of their first ever animated film called “Snow White.”

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” came out in 1937 and was based on Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Snow White.” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” won an honorary Oscar during the 11th Academy Awards and is considered to be one of the most successful animated movies of all time.

It is unclear if the live action “Snow White” of Disney will also feature the dwarfs that fans came to love.

Accordingly, “The Girl on the Train” screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson will be writing the script for the project while Marc Platt was tapped to produce. Platt is working with Disney on “Mary Poppins Returns.”

The live action “Snow White” is said to contain original songs. Songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will be writing the lyrics for the original songs of the “Snow White” live action flick. Pasek and Paul wrote the lyrics for the songs of “La La Land.”

In 2012, two movies based on “Snow White” were released. These are Rupert Sanders’ “Snow White And The Huntsman” and Tarsem Singh’s “Mirror Mirror.” Not one of the two adaptations was produced by Disney.

It has not been cleared yet if the “Snow White” live-action flick of Disney would have anything to do with “Rose Red,” the spin-off of “Snow White.” “Rose Red” was announced by Disney in March this year. “Rose Red” is said to be about the untold sister of Snow White.

Disney has been working on a couple of live action films of their classical animated flicks. Just recently, they announced that Guy Ritchie will be working on an “Aladdin” live action version. “Beauty and the Beast,” starring Emma Watson, will be out this March 2017. “Mulan” will also have a live action version slated to be out by 2018.
