Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Emma Watson covered the latest issue of Vanity Fair and the 26-year-old actress talked about feeling that she was able to transition into a woman regarding her new movie “Beauty and the Beast” and why she no longer wants to take selfies with her fans.
The actress plays the role of Belle on the Disney live-action remake of the classic movie. She said Belle is absolutely a Disney princess but is not a passive character as she is in charge of her own destiny. She continued to reveal when she finished “Beauty and the Beast,” she felt like she made the transition into being a woman on-screen.
Watson added, “I was like, ‘The first shot of the movie cannot be Belle walking out of this quiet little town carrying a basket with a white napkin in it. We need to rev things up!’” In the original movie, Belle assists her father who is an inventor. In the re-make, Watson is an inventor herself. The main invention that Belle worked on was a modern washing machine that will allow her to sit and read while waiting for the laundry.
The actress also revealed she thought of quitting the acting business. However, she realized it was what she wanted but she had to have more control over her actions and her roles. She gained fame at the age of 11 for the “Harry Potter” franchise and after it ended in 2011, she turned down a lot of roles if she did not feel like they were right for her.
She also revealed many producers or her agents told her turning down a certain project was a big mistake such as “La La Land.” Watson argued, “But what’s the point of achieving great success if you feel like you’re losing your freakin’ mind? I’ve had to say, ‘Guys, I need to go back to school,’ or ‘I just need to go home and hang out with my cats.’ People have looked at me and been like, ‘Is she insane?’ But, actually, it’s the opposite of insane.”
As for no longer allowing fans to take selfies with her, she said, “If someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds they’ve created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 meters. They can see what I’m wearing and who I’m with. They can see what I’m wearing and who I’m with. I just can’t give that tracking data.” She also said she would rather answer every question about Harry Potter but not take a photo with a fan. However, she said she never says no to children.
She also talked about being private especially her love life. She has been dating for a year now and said she would never talk about her boyfriend in interviews.
