
Ethiopians dominate Boston Marathon

Boston, MA, United States (4E Sports) – Ethiopians dominated Monday’s Boston Marathon, winning the men’s and women’s division for the first time in history and taking five of six spots in the winner’s podium.
Lemi Hayle edged defending champion Lelisa Desisa by 47 seconds while Yemani Tsegay completed the 1-2-3 finish for the Ethiopians in the men’s division.
Hayle finished the race in 2 hours, 12 minutes and 45 seconds while Desisa tallied 2 hours, 13 minutes and 32 seconds. Tsegay , for his part, submitted a time of 2 hours, 14 minutes and 2 seconds.
In the women’s event, Atsede Baysa won with a time of 2 hours, 29 minutes and 29 seconds while fellow Ethiophian Tirfi Tsegaye finished the race in 2 hours, 30 minutes and 3 seconds.
Kenyan Joyce Chepkirui broke the Ethophians’ dominance by finishing third with a time of 2 hours, 30 minutes and 50 seconds.
