Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – The family and friends of Garry Shanding came together over the weekend to celebrate the comedian’s passing.
According to reports, the celebration was star-studded and it was full of both tears and laughter as well as bathroom jokes. Some of those who attended are stars like Judd Apatow , Sarah Silverman, Kevin Nealon , Jeffrey Tambor , Conan O'Brien, Billy Crystal, Carrot Top, Ray Romano, and Adam Sandler. The memorial service was held at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles and was hosted by Apatow .
Shandling died from a heart attack on March 24. He was 66 years old. Apatow shared, "Garry was like a second father to me. I think a lot of people felt that way."
Accordingly, a number of Shandling’s never-before-heard jokes were unveiled during the memorial service. Some of them touched on a number of drab topics like the death of his brother from cystic fibrosis, his $100 million lawsuit against his former manager and the executive producers of “Larry Sanders,” as well as his recent health problems.
Nealon also talked at one point of the service. He shared, "The truth is, I think it was very hard to be Garry. He was complex, at times neurotic, persnickety, high maintenance, a perfectionist with the highest standards. He could be a handful." Sandler reportedly closed the program with his rendition of “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth).”
Apatow also celebrated Prince, who recently died in his estate. The cause of death of Prince is not yet determined but many are saying it was due to his health complications because of a flu.
There were also reportedly a couple of penis jokes throughout the evening.
