Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – George Clooney was being interviewed during the United Nations General Assembly and while at it, he heard about the divorce news regarding Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and was asked about the matter.
The actor is a friend to both Jolie and Pitt and the 55year-old said that he is very sorry to hear about it. Clooney was at the Leaders Summit for Refugees and said and an interviewer talked about the Jolie-Pitt divorce. He said that that was the first time he heard about the matter and added, "What happened? I didn't know that. I feel very sorry then. That's a sad story and unfortunate for a family. It's an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that."
Clooney and Pitt have been friends for more than a decade after they shared the big screen in the flick “Ocean’s” trilogy from the year 2001 to 2007. They also starred in “Burn After Reading,” a 2008 flick.
41-year-old Jolie filed for divorce on Monday and said that she and Pitt have been separated since September 15. She cited irreconcilable differences for the filing of the divorce. The two share six children together but she did not request for child or spousal support.
It is believed that the divorce was because of Marion Cottilard , the woman that Pitt has been working with in a new film. Break-up and divorce rumors have been circulating about Pitt and Jolie for months now as she reportedly felt that her husband was cheating on her.
Pitt and Jolie have been married for two years but have been together for numerous years before tying the knot in 2014. They met on the set of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” which was released in 2005.
