Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Gigi Hadid was attacked in Milan by Vitalii Sediuk , the man who has been making stunts during red carpets to physically approach celebrities, and the model talked about why she reacted the way that she did in a column on Lenny Letter.
Sediuk picked up Hadid as she exited the MaxMara show in Milan and the girlfriend of Zayn Malik fought back. Hadid elbowed Sediuk until he let her go. She also almost chased Sediuk after she was put down. She was, however, stopped by her bodyguards.
Many talked about what Hadid did on social media and many reacted positively as they praised her. She seems to be the only A-lister who defended herself from the notorious attacks of Sediuk .
Hadid then took to the Lenny Letter of Dunham to talk about the matter. The 21-year-old shared, "I played volleyball, and my coaches talked about muscle memory. I started boxing two years ago and I always remembered that. Since then, I hadn't been in a situation that forced me to fight back, but it just came out when he grabbed—me it wasn't a choice. I do have that fighter in me."
The supermodel added that she honestly thought that she was in danger when Sediuk picked her up. She noted that she had every right to react the way that she did and wants girls to see the video and know that they have the right to fight back too in case they find themselves in a similar situation.
Aside from that, Hadid lashed out on the reporter who said in the headline of her article that what Hadid did was not model behavior as she aggressively lashed out and elbowed a fan in the face. She said that she got pissed off about the article because a woman wrote the article. She added, "What would you tell your daughter to do? If my behavior isn't model behavior, then what is? What would you have told your daughter to do in that situation?”
Hadid said that her mother, Yolanda, actually praised her for what she did. She called Hadid a good girl and she model said that her mother has taught her the power of her instincts since she was a kid.
Before the end of her entry, Hadid said that she knows people are place in much worse situations every day and they do not have social media support. She said that she wants to use what happened to her as an empowerment that people are able to defend themselves.
