Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Hayden Panettiere has been battling postpartum depression and in a recent interview, she talked about how she continues to struggle and how she has been since checking into a treatment center.
The 26-year-old “Nashville” star gave birth to her daughter Kaya back in December 2014. She and her fiancé Wladimir Klitschko welcomed their first bundle of joy but the star noted that she first did not know she was battling postpartum depression.
During the Critics' Choice Awards, she talked about why she went public with her struggle. She shared, “It made my life better. I do feel and hope it's made other people's lives better and more of an understanding because postpartum depression was not something that I ever understood. You could never understand it unless you have a personal involvement with it. I didn't realize how much of a stigma it had about it.”
As for checking into a treatment center, the mother of one noted that she has learned a lot in the past month. She shared that she was afraid in the past about people’s judgments and their comments about what she wore or did.
However, being in the treatment center made her realize she has to be comfortable in her own skin. Panettiere shared, “I want to put out a good example for my daughter and tell her that she could be anyone she wants to be, she does not have to be afraid that somebody's not going to like it because no matter what you do, there's always going to be somebody who doesn't like it.”
Panettiere also revealed that she is happy about the positive response she has been getting for coming out with her struggle and noted that she is glad she could stand up for women suffering from postpartum depression.
