New York City, NY, United States (4E) – Kelly Ripa will reportedly continue to be absent on “Live! With Kelly & Michael” after Michael Strahan’s shocking departure from the show.
Accordingly, after the two finished taping Tuesday’s episode of the ABC talk show, executives told Ripa that he was set to leave the show. A source said that Ripa and the staff were not given a heads up regarding the departure and the co-host was livid over the news.
Ripa was absent from the Wednesday episode of the show and it is unclear how long will she be doing such. Media expert Brian Stelter said in a statement, "It's unclear if she'll back tomorrow or the rest of the week. There's conflicting information on whether she'll return to work on Thursday or Friday with some people in Hollywood and New York convinced she will not come back to work. My understanding is that her agent and manager are flying in to meet with her today to talk about next steps. It's clear this is a botched transition by ABC."
It was unclear though if the absence of Ripa was scheduled before Strahan’s announcement but Stelter said that by not showing up, she has proven that there is tension between her and the network and possibly between her and Strahan as well.
Ripa recently celebrated hosting the show for more than 15 years while Strahan has been with the show for less than four years. He joined Ripa back in 2012 and became a permanent figure on the show later that year.
Strahan will reportedly be joining “Good Morning America” permanently that is why he is departing from “Live! With Kelly And Michael.” However, sources are saying that he will still be with “Live!” until August. Accordingly, Strahan did not decide about this on his own as it was a network decision.
Ripa , on the other hand, is concentrating on off-air gigs. Macy’s recently announced in a statement on Wednesday that they will be launching a new home collection by Ripa .
