Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Kesha performed her rendition of “Till It Happens To You” at The Humane Society of the United States Los Angeles Gala and many said that the songstress got emotional.
The performance of Kesha comes three weeks after she made a surprise appearance at the Coachella Music Festival. Accordingly, before the music started playing, Kesha was tearing up and had to take deep breaths before the night’s honoree, Diane Warren, played the piano.
Kesha said before she started to sing: “I want to dedicate this song to every man, woman, child [and] animal that has ever been abused.” During the performance of the songstress, photos and videos of farm animals being caged played on the big screen at the back of the stage. Kesha received a standing ovation as she hugged Warren.
The song, which is Oscar-nominated, was co-written by Lady Gaga and Warren. It was first featured on “The Hunting Ground,” which is a documentary about sexual assaults on college campuses.
The song is particularly emotional as performed by the “We R Who We R” singer because she is involved in a legal battle with Sony and producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald . Kesha has claimed that Dr. Luke sexually assaulted her. Gottwald has not been charged with any crime and continually denies the pop star’s allegations. The two are in the middle of an ongoing legal battle.
Kesha has been denied her request to produce music outside of her contract with Sony and Dr. Luke. She countered the judgment but still, she was not given the freedom to have her contract be nullified. It was recently announced that she will be making music with DJ Zedd for the new version of “True Colors.”
Other guests at the Humane Society gala are Ian Somerhalder and his wife Nikki Reed, Riley Keough , and ate Mara.
