Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – After months of rumors circulating that Lady Gaga will be performing at next year’s Super Bowl halftime show, the reports have been confirmed.
The National Football League and Pepsi announced on Thursday that the “Poker Face” songstress will be taking the stage on February 5, 2017 for the Pepsi Zero Sugar Super Bowl LI Halftime Show. The event will be taking place at the NRG Stadium in Houston and will air on Fox.
This is not the first time that Lady Gaga was part of the Super Bowl. Last year, she took the stage to sing the national anthem in Santa Clara, California. For the halftime show last year, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay’s Chris Martin performed. The other performers in the past years are Madonna, the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Prince, and many more.
In an interview about the national anthem, Lady Gaga said, "I've always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate. This is one of the highest honors of my career."
The “Perfect Illusion” singer also took to Instagram to talk about the performance. She wrote, "It's not an illusion. The rumors are true. This year the SUPER BOWL goes GAGA."
Initially, the rumor mill about who will be performing at next year’s halftime show is Adele. She slammed the reports during one of her concerts.
It is unclear what Lady Gaga will be performing for the halftime show. Her hit songs include “Bad Romance,” “Jus Dance,” “Applause,” “Born This Way,” “You and I,” and many more.
Lady Gaga is set to release a new album entitled “Joanne” this October 21.
