Paducah, KY, United States (4E) – A man in Kentucky reportedly pulled a gun on a father and son at a movie theater Saturday after the son kicked the man's seat, officials have confirmed.
Paducah Police officer Dana Davie said in a statement that the incident took place at a Cinemark Theater around noon. The father told Davie that he and his son were sitting behind another man and were watching “Star Trek Beyond.” The boy was said to be kicking the seat of the man who pulled his gun out.
Witnesses added in a statement that the man with the gun got up and cursed at the teenager and asked if he was going to continue to kick his seat. The father of the teen also got up and confronted the man. They got into a fight and not long after, the other man pulled his gun out and allegedly said, “What the [expletive] are you going to do now?”
After seeing that the other man had a weapon, the movie goers began to panic and rushed toward the exit. Theater employees rushed inside and escorted the man with the gun. Officers were then called at the scene. The man has not been identified as well as the father and the son he had an altercation with.
Paducah Police Department said that they are seeking charges against the man and has posted the flow of events on their Facebook page. The man remains to be in custody and moviegoers were allowed to return to the theater after removing the threat from the area. It is unclear if the father and son also went back inside the theater.
The man who pulled out a gun has been barred from Cinemark property. His case will be presented to the McCracken County Attorney’s office before charges will be revealed. Cinemark has not yet released an official statement regarding the case.
Back in 2014, one person was killed at a Florida movie theater. It is believed that two people were arguing over texting.
