Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – Mel Gibson just made a comeback to directing after his hit “Hacksaw Ridge” last year and now reports have surfaced saying that he might be directing a new DC movie.
The director recently met with Warner Bros. and reports are saying the film he might be involved in is a superhero film. It is possible that Gibson will be working on the sequel of “Suicide Squad” but there has been no confirmation about this yet. No other information for the other possible projects that Gibson will take on have been revealed as sources familiar with the matter said the talks are still in the very early stages.
It was not stated why Gibson decided to work with Warner Bros. In the past, he was critical of DC movie as he said in a statement last September, “Batman v Superman” was a piece of “sh **.” He also said, “I’m not interested in the stuff. Do you know what the difference between real superheroes and comic book superheroes is? Real superheroes didn’t wear spandex. So I don’t know. Spandex must cost a lot.”
Gibson is said to be familiarizing himself with the material but it was not stated what project is he studying now. Other directors being linked to Warner Bros. now is Daniel Espinosa.
Warner Bros. has been having problems with their directors. Michelle MacLaren parted ways with the studio for “Wonder Woman,” Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa also backed out from “The Flash,” and Ben Affleck will no longer be directing “The Batman.” It is unknown if Gibson will be taking on any of these flicks.
