Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – Mila Kunis opened up about her struggles as a female actress and the gender pay gap in Hollywood she and other females are experiencing.

The “Bad Moms” actress wrote a letter in A Plus magazine and talked about the sexism she experienced. She said that throughout her career there were moments that she was insulted, sidelined, paid less, creatively ignored, and diminished due to being a female. She noted that she always gave people the benefit of the doubt and she taught herself to succeed as a woman in the industry to play by the rules of the men.

One of the instances that Kunis wrote was when a male producer threatened that she will no longer work in Hollywood if she did not pose semi-nude on the cover of a men’s magazine to promote the flick during that time. She said that she felt objectified during that time and despite not agreeing to the order of the producer, her career did not end.

The second instance that the mother-of-two talked about was when she was able to build her own production company. She said that a producer sent her an email and referred to her as the wife of Ashton Kutcher and his baby momma. She added, “He reduced my value to nothing more than my relationship to a successful man and my ability to bear children. It ignored my (and my team's) significant creative and logistical contributions.” They then withdrew from the project.

It was also reported that the struggles of Kunis paid off because the 33-year-old was able to make a name for herself. She is the voice of Meg in “Family Guy,” a fan-favorite character in “That 70’s Show” and garnered praise or “Black Swan.”

Kunis continued on her open letter that it could take around 136 years for the gender pay gap to close completely. She noted that if sexism undermined her capability it is happening to women everywhere. She also said that she is fortunate to be in a place in her life to have the ability to stop compromising and stand her ground without fearing how she will place food on her table.
