Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Spice Girls member Mel B filed for divorce against her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte and earlier this week, she was granted her temporary restraining order request.
More information about the relationship of the two surfaced after the divorce was filed. According to reports, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce filing. It was filed on March 20. They have been married for almost 10 years and were supposed to celebrate their 10-year anniversary this coming June.
The sister of Mel B, Danielle Brown, took to Instagram on Thursday to defend the singer and TV personality. Mel B received backlash for her claims against Belafonte such as the emotional and physical abuse she received from him during the duration of their marriage.
Brown shared, "Dear all media I won't be selling a story on my sister never have and never will!! Here is my comment below so you can now leave me and my mum alone and let us be united and grieve the loss of my dad. @stephenthinks11 8 years of abusive calls me and my mum have had stating we would never see Melanie again.I am laughing and celebrating as you were wrong.you are a sorry excuse of a man !! To the left to the left everything you own in the box to the left I hope you Lorraine Giles and Michael Bleu go to jail and rot in hell !!"
Mel B claimed her estranged husband had a relationship with their nanny and he got her pregnant. Belafonte reportedly proposed that the nanny keep the baby but ultimately decided she should get an abortion. Mel B said he used her money to pay for the nanny’s abortion.
Belafonte and his legal team denied the claims adding that the safety and well-being of his daughter with Mel B as well as his step-daughters with her is his main concern. His legal team added, "When the degree to which Ms. Brown has gone to create a false depiction of her marriage to Mr. Belafonte is uncovered, real victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse will be understandably offended, angry and upset."
