Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – CMT just announced that they will renew “Nashville” for its sixth season but with only less than half of the original number of episodes in the previous seasons.

The cable network renewed the musical drama for the second time but only ordered 16 episodes this time. Before, “Nashville” had 21 or 22 episodes per season. The reason behind the reduction remained unknown.

The network also revealed in their announcement that “Nashville” mid-season premier will be on June 1. Eleven more episodes for Season 5B will be aired by the network.

They also talked about Jeff Nordling being part of the show as Brad Maitland. They described the characters as “extremely successful, charming, egotistical, narcissistic owner of the most successful record label in Nashville.” He will be seen in Season 5B of the show alongside aitlin Doubleday and Rachel Bilson.

The new cast and the order for a season 6 of “Nashville” came after Connie Britton, who was one of the producers and also the star in the show, resigned from her post. Britton’s character, Rayna Jones, was killed off recently. Weeks after Jones’ death will be where “Nashville” Season 5B will be picking up. Season 5 is currently written by Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick.

The other stars of “Nashville” are Clare Bowen, Chris Carmack, Charles Esten, Hayden Panettiere, Jonathan Jackson, Lennon Stella, Maisy Stella, and Sam Palladio. Season 6 will probably air this 2018.
