Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Singer Nelly Furtado and Demacio Castellon have split last year and she broke her silence about the matter in a recent interview.
Furtado and Castellon have been married for eight years. The 38-year-old singe dropped by the ITV show called “Loose Women” and she said, “I am single now. Someone here needs to update my Wikipedia — it's not helping my dating life!” She did not, however, elaborate on why they decided to end their relationship.
She also shared, “I went through an emotionally difficult time last summer and I actually wrote and sung myself songs to get through it. I would sing to myself while I drove on these long drives and I thought to myself, ‘I'm so lucky that I can write songs because I can soothe myself with them.’”
Furtado and Castellon met in 2006 when they worked together on her “Loose” album. Castellon is a sound engineer. They also worked together on her Spanish language studio album called “Mi Plan.” They got married in July 2008 but only announced to the public three months after. She has not released any new songs as of late.
The “Say It Right” singer also talked about her daughter, now 13 years old. She had her daughter with her former flame, Jasper Gahunia. She said her daughter helped her go through the heartache. She added that sometimes she just wants to stay at home, bake muffins for her daughter, and clean her toilet so as to have a moment to herself. She pointed out that it is great that one’s career has taken off but if a person does not take time off from the routine, one crashes. She said she has to say emotionally and physically well for her daughter.
The singer concluded she and her daughter have a great life together and that they are blessed.
