‘New Girl’ renewed for S6, Megan Fox set to return for second half of S5

Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – “New Girl” has been renewed for a sixth season by FOX and fans will reportedly get to see Megan Fox still part of the roommates.

Jess, played by new mother Zooey Deschanel , Nick, played by Jake Johnson, Winston, played by Lamorne Morris, Schmidt, played by Max Greenfield, and Cece , played by Hannah Simone, will still be hitting the fans’ TV screens for another year.

Fox Broadcasting Company Entertainment President David Madden said in a statement: "Every network comedy should aspire to what [creator] Liz Meriwether is achieving in New Girl, with its bravura dialogue , inventive and witty performances by the talented cast and emotionally engaging storytelling."

Madden added that the series is as creatively strong today as it ever was and he extended his congrats as the show reached its milestone when they aired their 100th episode. He added, “We can't wait for the next subversive and hilarious chapter of these characters' lives.”

“New Girl” joins the other shows that were renewed such as “Bob’s Burgers,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “The Last Man On Earth,” “Family Guy,” and “The Simpsons.” These shows were picked up by FOX for the 2016 to 2017 season.

Accordingly, “New Girl” averages a 1.7 rating in adults 18-49 and has 3.6 million viewers overall. Due to “American Idol” pulling the plug, other shows renewed and launched are “Lucifer,” “Rosewood,” “Empire,” “Scream Queens,” “Gotham,” and “Bones.”

FOX Television Group CEO Gary Newman said in a statement, “We really focused this year on having a number of projects that were based on existing IP so that we wouldn’t be starting from zero when we’re trying to create awareness about our shows.”

More on “New Girl,” it has been reported that the second half of season 5 will see Schmidt and Cece tying the knot. Fox will be returning for the wedding as she confirmed this news at CinemaCon . Former roomie Coach, played by Damon Wayans Jr ., Meghan Rath , as Coach’s love interest, Nasim Pedrad as Winston’s cop partner, Peter Gallagher as Schmidt’s father, and Rob Riggle as Schmidt’s cousin will be guesting in the wedding of the couple.
