Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Mariah Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance was the talk of the town and one of the people close to the diva, her ex-husband Nick Cannon, said in a statement that he has her back and believes the singer was set up.

The “America’s Got Talent” host dropped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” for the Monday episode and talked about the possibility that the government set her up and it was just a distraction. Carey said in a statement that there was a malfunction in the ear piece that is why her performance did not go well as she planned it to be.

Cannon added, "Anyone who knows about performing and having inner-ears, things like that can go wrong on live television. I screw up on America's Got Talent all the time. So when there's people in your ear saying things and stuff, I think she got a little flustered."

The soon-to-be father-of-three added that he agrees with Ryan Seacrest who said that Carey can do no wrong. Cannon complimented his ex-wife saying that she was able to work through it and applauded how she handled the situation. Cannon joked that the people in Times Square did not even care about Carey lip-syncing. He continued, "They're like, 'She's amazing and her lips aren't even moving!'"

Aside from that, Cannon, who shares two children with Carey, twins Monroe and Moroccan, talked about spending the holidays in the hospital due to the complications of lupus. He was released from hospital on December 29 and shared to DeGeneres that he was diagnosed with it back in 2012. He said that the latest health scare was life threatening as he had medication issues.

He said that he is now exploring other medication options. Cannon also said that he is excited about his baby boy with Miss Arizona USA Brittany Bell.
