‘Once Upon A Time’ lead star Jennifer Morrison is leaving ABC show

Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – The face of the fairytale-inspired ABC show “Once Upon A Time” will be leaving the show and Jennifer Morrison took to Instagram to explain her decision.
Morrison plays the role of Emma Swan and she took to Instagram on Monday to say that her six-season contract already expired. She agreed to return for Season 7, if ABC orders more episodes, but only for one episode.
The actress said the executive producers of the show, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, offered her to be part of the upcoming seasons of the show but she declined it. She noted on her post, “Emma Swan is one my favorite characters that I have ever played. My 6 years on Once Upon a Time has changed my life in the most beautiful ways. I am absolutely blown away by the passion and commitment of the Oncer fans. I am so honored to have been a central part of such a special show. I will be forever grateful to Adam, Eddy, and ABC for giving me the gift of playing Emma Swan.” She noted she considered it carefully and said that she wants to move on to other creative endeavors.
She also promised that she will still attend fan conventions if her professional schedule allows her to do so. Morrison also said the creativity of the show runners has inspired her and she cannot wait to see how they will make changes in order to continue reinventing the show.
In a statement by the executive producers of “OUAT,” they said that the six years they spent with the actress as Emma Swan have been truly magical. They said that Morrison gave life to a brand new Disney Princess who had strength, intelligence, and a closet full of red leather jackets. They concluded their statement by saying, "We'll miss seeing her every day, but her imprint upon Once Upon a Time is indelible. She will always be a part of the show and its heart and soul. That said, just because Jennifer won't be back every week doesn't mean we won't see our savior again.”
“OUAT” Season 7 will air its two-part finale this Sunday.
