Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Seth Rogen was recently interviewed and he joked that he is partially responsible as to why gender wage gap in Hollywood was looked into citing the 2014 Sony Hack.
Back in 2014, hackers got mad regarding Rogen’s comedy film entitled “The Interview.” Rogen starred alongside James Franco in the flick and it centered on an assassination plot against the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un. The hackers who got mad then launched a cyber-attack on Sony Picture Entertainment.
Many emails were leaked which showed the back and forth between the people on the top. Some of the emails revealed that Jennifer Lawrence was compensated much less than her male co-stars on the movie “American Hustle.”
Lawrence then penned an article for Lenna Dunham’s Lenny Newsletter entitled “Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars.” She discussed the gender wage gap and it has since been a big issue resulting to many actresses and actors commenting on the matter.
Rogen was at the Town Hall event of SiriusXM with his “Neighbors 2” co-stars Rose Byrne and Zac Efron. They were asked if they think Hollywood has made progress regarding the gender pay gap.
Byrne first said that she thinks the gap has not been closed but noted that it is good the matter is out there and it has been brought to light. She added that she feels it is only through that will there be change.
Rogen then answered, “Thanks to our Sony hacking, everyone knows about it now. Technically, I…you guys are welcome. If we hadn't done that, then Jennifer Lawrence wouldn't know.”
“Neighbors 2” hits theaters this Friday.
