Collin County, TX, United States (4E) – A Texas man reportedly posted a photo of the woman he murdered using her Facebook account and now he has been arrested.

According to police officials, the man was identified as Kenneth Alan Amyx . The victim is said to be his girlfriend named Jennifer Streit-Spears . Two photos were uploaded on her account, one showed Amyx covered in blood while the other showed the woman’s dead body. The caption reads: “Please pray for us.”

Officers arrived on Sunday morning at the home where the incident took place and officials found Amyx with multiple self-inflicted stab wounds. Streit-Spears was near him and was fatally stabbed to death.

Police spokesman David Tilley said that the sister of Streit-Spears was the one who called 911 after seeing the photos online. The sister, who wants to remain anonymous, noted that she tried contacting Facebook to have the photo taken down but the social media platform did not give her what she was asking for. She shared, “I did ask them to remove it several times. They told me I could block Jennifer if I didn’t like what she posted and gave me other similar options.”

According to Facebook, they did not take the photo down because they believe it was posted as a call for help from the victim. A Facebook spokesperson added, “Facebook has long been a place where people share their experiences and raise awareness about important issues. Sometimes, those experiences and issues involve violence and graphic images of public interest or concern.”

The photos were since deleted from the Facebook profile of the victim. It has also been changed to an “in remembrance” page.

Amyx is reportedly wanted for serious sex crimes. They include a continued sexual abuse of a child in Rockwall County and another in Dallas County after he was accused of indecent exposure to a child.

Amyx is now in Collin County jail and is held with a $600,000 bond. He has been charged with murder. The two have been living together in the apartment where the killing took place but it was unclear for how long.

There is no motive for the killing yet.
