Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – The European leg of Rihanna’s “Anti” world tour will no longer see singer The Weeknd as he pulled out due to schedule conflicts.
A statement from the crooner reads: "Due to some unforeseen changes with upcoming projects, The Weeknd will no longer be joining Rihanna on her upcoming international Anti World Tour." The Grammy winner was supposed to hit the stage with the “Work” singer on June 11 in Amsterdam, which would be the star of the two-month overseas stint for Rihanna.
Despite the statement released by his representative, The Weeknd took to Twitter to send out a cryptic message. The tweet reads: “it’s my job to make music… not to convince you.” It was unclear what prompted the singer to post such. Rihanna has not spoken publicly about the sudden change of plans yet as well as the singer’s latest tweet.
There have been no announcements yet as to who will replace The Weeknd but Big Sean, whose name was on the original tour announcement back in November, will still be joining the Barbadian singer in Europe.
In the recent concerts of Rihanna, Travis Scott and Drake have made surprise appearances so it is possible that the replacement for The Weeknd will be under wraps.
Drake’s appearances on his rumored girlfriend’s concerts have been giving quite the attention to the performances. The two have been heating up the stage whenever they are performing together. Last week, the twosome raised the heat when they twerked against each other during a performance in Miami, Florida.
