Hollywood, CA, United States (4E) – The hit NBC show “This Is Us,” which is currently in its freshman season, has been renewed for a Season 2 and 3.
The creator of the show, Dan Fogelman , talked about the series at the Television Critics Association and he said that each season will be having 18 episodes. The show revolves around the life of three kids who are now 36-year-olds and stars Milo Ventimigila , Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, and Justin Hartley.
For the long-term series of “This Is Us,” Fogelman said that he knows where the show will go and revealed that he has a number of seasons on his brain. He added that in terms of the nature of the timeline, since the series weaves in and out of the past and the future lives of the characters, Fogelman promised that they will never run out of stories.
NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke confirmed the news in a statement, “We all got our wish that this is a hit show. This Is Us is as good as anything we’ve ever had. We’re thrilled to renew it for two seasons and there’s no doubt it will have a long life on NBC. On behalf of everyone at NBC, we’re grateful for the artistry of the cast, crew, and producers assembled by our gifted creator, Dan Fogelman.”
As for the latest episode of “This Is Us,” they will be delving more into the death of Jack. In the series premiere, Jack’s death was shown but it was never delved into. Fogelman continued to reveal, "There's a hinge in this family, and it's a before with Jack and after. That will be interesting in future seasons as we go forward to show what that hinge was and what happened to people before and after. We'll slowly but surely learn how and when. Hopefully that takes many more episodes.”
Ventimiglia , who plays the role of Jack, added that everything about his character will be revealed when it is right to tell his story. Ventimiglia continued, "The impact that everybody feels, the kind of ripple from Jack's death is something that's going to be around for a while."
“This Is Us” airs Tuesdays at 9 P.M. on NBC.
