Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Tom Hiddleston has recently weighed in on the rumors about him being the next James Bond in different interviews.
During the premiere of the Hank Williams biopic “I Saw the Light,” which hits theaters this March 25, Hiddleston shared, “I don't know honestly if I have a shot, but it's flattering that some people think I do. I think Daniel Craig has been one of the very best and I bet he does more.”
He also talked about his childhood and basically growing up with the James Bond movies. He shared that when he was a child, around five years old, BBC used to play reruns of the Sean Connery and Roger Moore bonds every Saturday evening. He added, “It was a thrill that my parents let me stay up past my bedtime to watch it. God forbid you got back to school on Monday and you didn't because that's all people would talk about in the playground.”
During his interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” the British actor also talked about replacing Daniel Craig for the 007 film saying that his role as a British spy in the series “The Night Manager” might have influenced the people’s thoughts about him being the next James Bond.
“The Night Manager” is a six-part series which will premiere on April 19 on AMC. It also stars Elizabeth Debicki , Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman , and Tom Hollander.
Kimmel asked more about Hiddleston’s thoughts if he did get the chance to play the iconic role. The actor shared, “I mean, as somebody who grew up with Sean Connery and Roger Moore, when you mention it there’s a part of me that goes, ‘Really, are you kidding?’” 35-year-old “Avengers” actor also said that the topic about who is the next James Bond is one of the British people’s favorite pub conversations.
