9 August 2016 Entertainment News

Greeneville, TN, United States (NewsBahn) – A trio of girls were injured after a fall from a Ferris wheel Monday evening at a Tennessee fair.

Greeneville police captain Tim Davis said a Ferris wheel's basket overturned and effectively caused the three girls to fall about 35 to 45 feet to the ground.

Two of the three children, the oldest being 16, were taken via helicopter helicopter to Johnson City Medical Center, he said.

The third was taken via ambulance and all three children are said to be awake, alert and show the ability to coherently answer questions at the hospital.

All mechanical rides have been shut down though smaller games and food vendors will be allowed to operate, officials reported.

The president of the Greene County Fair board will issue a statement on the incident Tuesday, according to knoxnews.com

The country has suffered a spate of incidents in recent months as fairs take place across the U.S.
