Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Reports confirmed Tyra Banks is stepping in to fill the post of Nick Cannon on “America’s Got Talent” as she will be the new host of the NBC talent show.

Cannon announced last month he will no longer return as the host of the show after NBC threatened to fire him regarding a racial joke during his Showtime comedy special called “Stand Up, Don’t Shoot.” Howie Mandel, one of the judges on “America’s Got Talent” announced Banks replacing Cannon. The other judge, Simon Cowell, who is also an executive producer of the other “Got Talent” franchises, welcomed Banks to the “AGT” family saying it is exciting to have the model as part of the show.

Banks, on the other hand, released a statement of her own. She said since she was a little girl, she was obsessed with acts and performers making the impossible possible. She added, “I love how AGT brings that feeling into everyone’s home, capturing the best of people who come out and give it their all to make those big, fierce and outrageous dreams come true. I look forward to connecting with the dreamers, having fun and giving hugs and words of encouragement when needed. And maybe I’ll get one or two performers to smize for the audience!”

Banks being part of “America’s Got Talent” came after she no longer hosted “America’s Next Top Model” after more than 20 cycles. She is still part of the latest “ANTM” series but is only an executive producer.

The president of alternative and reality group at NBC Entertainment, Paul Telegdy, said Tyra has the complete package as she is funny, talented, and brilliant. Telegdy said Banks always connects to audiences around the world and they hope she would do the same when she hosts the next season of “America’s Got Talent.”
